AutoCAD WS on the ipad
How is it?
Great app AutoCAD WS.
In the past the students have learnt AutoCAD and as part of the summative assessment they print off their work onto paper. I then used to mark this and hand it back to them with a mark attached... then what was the drawing to be used for? The old way... OK so what's the new look like then... the students draw on AutoCAD an object they need to manufacture... ensuring the necessary info is attached.... this drawing is then uploaded into the cloud and onto AutoCAD WS... shared with me and others, thats up to the student who the others are... I can then read this and make comments, if necessary, buts what's more important is that the students are using this technique in real time now to construct the actual article. I've noticed that if they need more infor from the drawing then they have now the ability to source this... No need to carry around the paper war any more... So this is making me think about the bigger question stuff... like why do we draw in CAD in the first place? What are we to do with the drawings once they have been done?

Are you going to the meeting?
How is it?
Was asked on Monday.... Are you going to the ipad meeting at lunch time?
What meeting?
Oh the one that....
No but now you have asked me I'd like to attend....
Come 12:00 with lunch in one hand and the ipad in the other we (4 staff) started the meeting... waited for a few minutes for ... to turn up...
So while the wait was in progress I asked the question to the team... "What apps have you downloaded"? OK I'll rephrase that.... Have any of you seen or downloaded AutoCAD WS?
Show and tell time.... Free is good... 2 instantly down loaded and I shared a few CAD drawings with them... we talked about new pedogogical approaches that will be necessary now this sort of app is available to staff/students...." Paper is old stuff that was designed to slow the worlds rotation"... quote Mr Lovegrove 2012.... that's why we have ipads......
Imagine being on the Unitec house building site, and having the capability to bring up the house plans on your ipad and show the students.... or better still the students bring up the house plans and.....

Read off an iPad
How is it? Have been doing some more reading on the iPad today. Getting used to it. So different than a paper book.
at page 160 I can across this....
Because technology, pedagogy, and practice change so rapidly, faculty profes-
sional development may need to be ongoing. When IT is involved, institutions also need to provide easy and convenient support for technology-integrated learning. To leverage the creativity of faculty and staff—to turn their intellectual and social imaginations to the task—institutions need to provide systematic encouragement and assistance through comprehensive faculty development programs.
Have found out how to select text and copy.
Open a blog on Blogger... And paste...

Week 4 on ipad
How is it?
Hey this ipad 2 is cool. I've been playing around as the Curator, taking pictures and videos and uploading to the circle of Marine students. How far do I go?
Wouldn't it be great if the students did this for me?
So perhaps I need to change my slant.
What if I took pictures and videos and students made sense of these? What would sense look like through their eyes? I've noticed that once you have made a posting in google + then there is an option available to hangout on this topic.... also another option is to then share on to another group or individual....
Cheers
At one bar all is good!
